Triboelectric Charging Behaviors of Polyester Films Doped with Titanium Dioxide Nanoparticles of Various Crystal Structures

It is empirically known that titanium dioxide nanoparticles stabilize the contact and frictional charge of host polymers to which they are added. However, mechanism for stabilization process has not yet been elucidated. In this study, polyester films doped with different crystalline forms were triboelectrically charged effect humidity on their charging characteristics was subsequently investigated elucidate mechanism. Our first finding rutile-, rutile–anatase mixed crystal (P25)-, amorphous-dominant-type reduced sensitivity (humidity dependence), while anatase-type enhanced dependence. This difference in action explained by associating it water adsorption major surface each type.
